Info for the AFDOSS Virtual 2020 Raffle
Each year during our AFDOSS Annual Education Conference, we hold a fundraising event, either as a silent or live auction for our members to participate in. This event is our biggest fundraiser supporting the Mary Logan Scholarship Fund, which provides a $4,500 scholarship annually to a deserving undergraduate or graduate student within an AFDOSS state. Since we had to cancel our AEC in Gatlinburg in Sept. 2020, we missed out on this year’s opportunity to have a LIVE auction, featuring our very own Buddy Woodson, in Gatlinburg, Tenn. So, instead, we thought — why not try a virtual auction? Ta-da! Welcome to the AFDOSS VIRTUAL RAFFLE!
Here’s how it works: The raffle will be open from Tues., Nov. 10 – Tues., Nov. 24. You can purchase as MANY raffle tickets as you’d like ($10 apiece) for whichever prize(s) you’ve got your eye on. Your “registration” will tally up your total tickets and you’ll pay the invoice at the end to seal the deal for your selections. After the raffle closes, we’ll randomly select a winning “ticket” for each prize. Winners will be notified and prizes will be sent off on or before Dec. 1 (just in time for the holidays!). Those who have attended AFDOSS say the Live Auction event is a networking highlight of the conference. Help make this year’s live auction a huge success by donating a souvenir, keepsake gift, or novelty item — then be sure to attend the auction and make your bids! You can bring or ship your donations to the hotel. Tables will be set up in the back of our conference room starting on Sunday during the Welcome Reception. You can display your donations with details and an estimated value of the donation. On Monday evening, following the Awards Banquet Dinner, the Live Auction immediately takes place in our conference meeting space.
Items will be awarded to the highest bidder. Payments are due prior to the close of the conference. Payment can be made using cash, credit or check.
Have fun and show your support, because as our professional auctioneer and RAFDOSS member Buddy Woodson will tell you, “It’s for the kids!” All auction proceeds benefit the Mary Logan Scholarship Fund, which supports undergraduate scholarships for deserving students in their third year of college who plan to serve through a career in research, regulatory work, quality control or teaching in an area related to some aspect of foods, drugs or consumer product safe.
