Association of Food and Drug Officials Association(AFDO )Scholarship AwardApplications are being sought for the AFDO Scholarship Award. The George M. Burditt Scholarship and the Betsy B. Woodward Scholarship, both in the amount of $1,500.00 are awarded annually to two worthy recipients, who are in their third or fourth year of college.The Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) is an international non-profit organization whose members are concerned with the development and enforcement of uniform food, drug, and other consumer protection laws. Through its committees and the efforts of its Regular and Associate Members, AFDO supports legislation, develops and circulates "model codes", publishes information circulars and generally works to aid in the overall implementation of sound and effective consumer protection and regulation.In 1981, AFDO established a scholarship fund with the excess funds from the 75th Anniversary of the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act.The following qualifications have been established for the award recipients:
To apply, in addition to completing an application, an official and complete college transcript must be submitted along with letters of recommendations from two faculty members.It is necessary to use the official AFDO Scholarship application. The forms are available at the link below or from Gene Blake, Awards Chairman at 37 Green Street, Concord, New Hampshire, 03301, or by e-mail eblake@ci.concord.nh.us. The applications must be returned to the Award Chairman by February 1, 2006, to be considered.
